How does remote VR training work?

This collaborative remote training immerses up to 5 learners and 1 trainer in the same virtual environment. They can all hear each other, see each other's avatars, and watch each other's presentations from within their VR headset.

Here's an overview of how it works:

• Learners start the VirtualSpeech app and enter one of the virtual training environments. Here, they enter a meeting ID and enter a live training session with their colleagues, each represented by an avatar with their name above their heads.
• All learners can hear each other, and the avatar will move as people move their head in the VR headset
• The trainer who is running the session decides which scenarios to practice in and can teleport attendees accordingly. For example, it could be a boardroom, lecture hall, a press conference, or a job interview.
• Once a scenario is chosen, each learner takes it in turns to practice their presentation, pitch, or speech. For example, each learner might be the speaker for 5 minutes at a press conference, with the other learners in the audience represented as avatars watching, listening, and asking questions.
• At the end of each practice session, the other attendees can give feedback on each other's performance or ask questions, depending on the scenario. They also have the option of filling out a feedback survey for their peer, which can be saved and referred back to later.
• Learners can then swap positions within VR, so they become the person answering questions at a press conference, for example, and the previous presenter becomes a journalist in the audience.

What features are available in remote VR training?

• Load presentation slides into the virtual room - each learner can load their own slides into the session and select for them to be shown to the other learners when they are speaking
• Group feedback on learner performance - receive real-time audio feedback as if colleagues were in the same room as you, as well as quantitative feedback through surveys
• Communication between all learners - like talking on Skype or Zoom, all participants can hear each other speaking in real-time
• Record audio of each session - record the training session for admin and learners to listen back to after the session has finished
• Variety of VR rooms available for group practice, including a meeting room, press conference, lecture hall and radio interview scenario
• Instant automated speech analytics are available to quantify feedback on aspects of a speech or pitch, including the use of hesitation words, volume, tone, etc.

Example Use Case 1: Student Group Project

Universities can use this tool for student group projects, where groups of 4-6 students meet in the virtual room and practice a presentation, interview, pitch, or other communication skill.

Each student practices one at a time and the other students listen from within their headsets, at home, in the library, elsewhere on campus, or even away on vacation! Students then provide feedback on each other's performance, which can be collated and sent to the professor or admin to record.

Students and the professor can ask questions during or after the presentation, and provide real-time feedback to enable the most effective, realistic practice possible.

Example Use Case 2: Employee Training

Companies can use this remote training tool with internal and external trainers. For example, a small group of between 2-6 employees can meet in the same virtual room, from different locations around the world.

Here they can learn core techniques from trainers and then practice sales pitches, presentations, leadership communication, media training and other skills together. The learner can receive instant feedback and grading on their performance from their colleagues and trainer, and this data can be sent to the admin or LMS for reference.
